Bike Riding, Cycling and Mosquito Deterrent

Most mosquitoes enjoy biting cyclists, because well I guess it is a challenge as you whisk on by? Too bad really, well for you, not the Mosquito, as you are so busy biking that you did not notice until it was too late. Why do Mosquito Squadrons like bicyclists?

Well you see, Mosquitoes home in on your CO2, which you exude as you use oxygen and guess what, when you are huffing and puffing on your Huffy you use more oxygen and put out a bigger CO2 Plume. Great, you say, indeed, bummer it is, but if you breath less you will go into oxygen debt and end up slowing down, making it easier for the Mosquito Evil Doers to commit a Terrorist Act on your epidermis.

I have the perfect solution and it does not require smearing Deet all over your body. My solution to the Mosquitoes is to maintain a 22-25 mile per hour clip

and therefore never letting these guys catch me. We all know that there are more Mosquitoes out at night and as bicyclists we do not know where the bats are. But if you do, be sure to travel in areas, which are known to have bats, because they will eat those Mosquitoes for you.

Mosquitoes are in much better shape than the average Americans. So if we lose a little weight we can out run these more adapted and better-evolved insects. Remember when cycling to stay above 22-25 mph whenever possible. Consider this in 2006.
